A Uromastyx (also called a spiny-tailed lizard) is a type of desert-dwelling lizard known for its thick, spiky tail and ability to survive in hot, dry environments. These reptiles are found in parts of North Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia, living in rocky deserts and scrublands.
Uromastyx lizards are usually herbivores, feeding mainly on plants, such as leaves, flowers, and seeds. Unlike many other reptiles, they rarely eat insects or meat. Their diet and behavior help them conserve water and stay cool in the extreme heat of their natural habitat.
One of the most distinctive features of the uromastyx is its tail, which is covered in stiff, sharp spikes. When threatened, it uses this tail like a club to defend itself from predators. The rest of its body is thick and muscular, with strong legs for digging and climbing over rocky terrain.
