ADC May Fail to Produce INEC-Recognised Presidential Candidate for 2027 — Fani-Kayode

Femi Fani-Kayode, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has cast doubt on the ability of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to successfully present a presidential candidate recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday, the former minister criticised the opposition party over what he described as growing internal instability and unresolved leadership disputes.
According to him, despite the ADC’s public appearances and increasing political activity, the party may be heading toward deeper problems that could affect its participation in the next presidential race.
Fani-Kayode argued that the party’s internal conflicts, factional disagreements, and legal battles could eventually prevent it from putting forward a candidate officially accepted by INEC.
He also cautioned politicians and stakeholders considering political alignment with the ADC, suggesting that such a move may not yield meaningful results if the party fails to settle its internal crisis.
While criticising the opposition, he urged the party to address its leadership and structural issues, reconcile its factions, and create a more united platform before the next election cycle gains momentum.
Fani-Kayode further expressed confidence in the APC’s strength ahead of 2027, maintaining that the ruling party would be well-positioned to defeat the opposition in the presidential contest.
His comments come amid ongoing political realignments and speculation over possible coalitions and opposition strategies ahead of Nigeria’s next general election.
